Local Government Ministry joins the Zim@44 celebrations

The Minister of Local Government and Public Works Winston Chitando, his Deputy Engineer Benjamin Kabikira, the Permanent Secretary, Dr John Basera, management and staff have joined President Mnangagwa and the nation at large in celebrating 44 years of independence.

In a statement on X, the Ministry said: “As we celebrate this important milestone for the country, we remember the heroes and heroines who sacrificed their lives to deliver the hard-won freedom that we celebrate and cherish to this day.”

The Ministry celebrates independent Zimbabwe for creating an enabling environment which is fair for rural and urban development that benefits all citizens.

“The Ministry, therefore, rallies behind His Excellency, the President’s ‘Call to Action No Compromise to Service Delivery’ to ensure quality service delivery in all Local Authorities so that citizens enjoy the fruits of independence as journey towards attaining an upper middle-income status by 2030”, read the statement.
