LOCAL rugby fans stand a chance to watch one of the biggest matches in international sport when South Africa take on New Zealand in a Castle Lager Rugby Championship fixture at the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town on 7 October, thanks to Delta Beverages.

A Castle Lager promotion being run by the country’s biggest beverage company started on 25 August and ends on 25 September. A draw will be conducted five days after the conclusion of the promotion where 10 lucky consumers of Castle Lager will travel to Cape Town for the match. The fixture is part of the last round of the Rugby Championship, formerly the Tri-Nations which changed its name following the inclusion of Argentina in 2012. Argentina take on Australia in Mendoza in the other last round match.

Delta Beverages marketing executive, Patricia Murambinda said in order for local consumers to stand a chance of winning, they have to buy six Castle Lager pints, cans, non-returnable bottles or three quarts, complete an entry form which will be put together with a confirmation of purchase.

“The draw date will be on the 30th of September, for one to enter, they have to buy six units of Castle Lager, cans, NRBS or three quarts, fill in an entry form with proof of purchase attached and they could be in for a live game experience,’’ said Murambinda.

Last year, Delta Beverages took 30 local rugby fans to South Africa for the Springboks’ Rugby Championship matches against Australia and New Zealand. Fifteen watched the Springboks tackle the Wallabies at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on 1 October with the same number witnessing the Boks square off against the All Blacks a week later at Kings Park in Durban.

It will be the third group to be sent to South Africa by Delta Beverages this year. Six Castle Lager consumers watched the Cosafa Castle Cup live at Royal Bofokeng Sports Palace in Rustenburg last month while 29 consumers also witnessed the Carling Black Label Champion Cup between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium on 29 July. — @Mdawini_29
