BENJAMIN Lock continues to impress as he booked a place in the semi-finals of the ITF F1 Zimbabwe pro-circuit tennis tournament at Harare Sports Club yesterday. Lock, who is enjoying playing at home where he is receiving tremendous support, had one of his toughest games since the tournament began on Monday but emerged triumphant.
Taking on eighth-seeded Frenchman, Romain Bauvy of France, Lock won 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.
“It was a tough match but I managed to fight and eventually won, which is good for me,” said Lock.
“I hope to continue with the great performance and it was really hard to come out victorious.
“I will be ready for the next game and the matches are becoming tough with each upcoming challenge.”
The tournament continue this morning.
Lock will now face United States’ Ivan King who sailed through past South Africa’s Lloyd Harris 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-4.
The 18-year-old Harris beat Courtney Lock in the second round.
Evan King and Anderson Reed, also of the United States, booked their places in the semi-finals in the doubles.
They beat the duo of William Bushamuka of the United States and David Chaplefeh Forchap from Germany 6-2 2-6 (10-6).
