THE Bulawayo Professional Pool Players’ Association (BPPPA) squad that was selected for the second round of the Clash of the Cities tournament against Harare in the capital on June 27 has intensified preparations. BPPPA public relations officer Tapiwa Sikwila said the mixed men and women’s side has been practising hard.
“We want the best team for this clash. Our Harare opponents will obviously be feeling confident after they beat us at home, but the pressure will be on them to repeat the same feat. The ladies have been training for two weeks now and we have drafted five into the team,” said Sikwila.
He said they would be conducting their training sessions concurrently with the challenge series matches that they will use as part of the final selection process.
Sikwila said one of today’s challenge matches will feature the Gweru champion, Alfred King, who has expressed his desire to join the Bulawayo team.
“He will be playing for a place in our team and selectors will vet him on merit.”
