Log leaders Correctional Queens collect full points

ONLY three matches took place in the latest round of the Zimbabwe Women’s Soccer League, the country’s Premier division of women’s football.

There was little action to take note of in the top six teams.

Log leaders Correctional Queens were the only side in action out of the top six.

They took full advantage of that situation and put six past Bulawayo side Borrow Jets away from home.

The victory meant they got to the top of the league table with  51 points, three ahead of Harare City Queens and Herentals Queens in second and third position who both have 48 points but they have a chance to  recover as they have two games in hand.

Borrow Jets are still in the relegation zone with the six points that have come from their only two victories in the 19 matches that they have played.

Seventh placed Black Mambas Queens had a convincing 2-0 victory away from home against Yadah Queens who are only away from the relegation zone due to a better goal difference.

The victory did not mean there was a lot of movement in the log for Mambas Queens as they remained in seventh position with 28 points, 15 behind Platinum Queens who have 43, but with two games in hand, which is something that will motivate them.

They can have a fine finish at the end of the season and try to emulate their male counterparts’ side which is leading the Northern Region Division One and well placed for a place in the men’s Premier Soccer League next season.

Chipembere Queens also started the week in 10th place but moved up after an important 2-1 victory away from home against another relegation threatened side, Conduit Soccer Academy.

The victory lifted Chipembere up to seventh place after 20 matches.

Week 22 Results:
Conduit Soccer Academy 1-2 Chipembere Queens, Borrow Jets 0-6 Correctional Queens, Yadah Queens 0- 2 Black Mambas Queens
