The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has described the Sheriff of the High Court Mr Macduff Madega, who died on Thursday last week after serving the judiciary for 41 years, as a dedicated public servant.
Mr Madega was buried on Sunday at Glen Forest Memorial Park in Harare.
In a statement, the JSC said Mr Madega contributed to the administration of justice and the effective functioning of the courts during his lengthy career.
“The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) announces with a deep sense of sadness the passing of Mr Macduff Madega, the Sheriff of the High Court, who passed away on Thursday, 20 August 2026,” reads the statement in part.
The JSC said Mr Madega served the judiciary with dedication and commitment to duty, making valuable contributions during his 41 years of service.
“Through his service as the Sheriff of the High Court, he made valuable contributions to the administration of justice in general and the effective functioning of the courts in particular,” reads the statement.
The Commission extended its condolences to Mr Madega’s family, relatives, colleagues and all those who worked with him and were touched by his service.
The JSC said it stood in solidarity with the bereaved family and joined the nation in mourning the loss of a dedicated member of the judiciary.
“At this difficult time, the Commission stands in solidarity with the bereaved family and joins the nation in mourning the loss of a dedicated member of the Judicial Service,” read the statement.
“May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
