AUTHORITIES at Mugure House Institute in Chivhu, Mashonaland East, have pledged to continue assisting 18 brilliant learners with scholarships to realise their dreams.

The scholarships, which are being accorded in honour of the late school founder, Dr Daniel Chapinga, have empowered several learners over the years.

Intelligent student Joel Ngorima is the only Form 1 learner on full scholarship while two Form 2 pupils Ropafadzo Ngorima and Anotida Tsekwende have been rewarded for their brilliance as beneficiaries.

Other beneficiaries are: Six Form 4 students: Brenda Chapinga, Tirwirei Chapinga,  Fainess Muchandibaya,  Mitchell Moyo,  Blessed Mugombi and  Nigel Tavuyanago.

Five Lower 6 pupils: Faith Mundira, Vimbai Zva kanaka,  Munashe Bondera, Tanatswa Zinyemba and Edson Rukuni join the list of beneficiaries.

Whizkids on scholarships in  Upper Sixth are Rumbidzai Dzinzi, Makanaka Cholomali, Tererai Tasara, and Spencer Bangojena.

One of the students, Spencer Bangojena, who benefited from the scholarship programme, could not hide her elation.

“It was quite an honour getting a scholarship, for me to be able to study up to Advanced Level.

“On my combination, I am doing Maths, Physics and Geography. My ambition is to study AirSpace Engineering because it’s in demand nowadays,” he said.

Bangojena, who has high hopes in life, advised fellow learners to remain focused and dedicated to their studies.

“As young people with big dreams, we should stick to our goals to make it to the top.

“I also urge fellow youngsters to shun drugs and illicit substances because lives have been destroyed.”

School administrator, Ms Chipo Mutandwa said they were determined to keep the late Dr Chapinga’s legacy of  investing in education alive.

Dr Chapinga died in 2021, leaving behind an elite boarding school offering quality education.

Outlining their vision, Ms Mutwandwa said: “As a way of remembering and commemorating the legacy of the visionary and founder of Mugure House Institute, the late  Dr Chapinga, Mugure House board of directors established a scholarship fund to assist deserving students in achieving their educational goals.

“The fund was also established to fulfil the late Chapinga’s dream of seeing the school grow by harnessing students from different social, economic and religious backgrounds.

“The late Dr Mugure was profound to education and this was the driving force to the establishment of Mugure House Institute.”

She added: “The scholarship programme is one of his dreams but unfortunately could not be implemented soon after his untimely death.

“It took us several years to reconsolidate his wish and desires since we were still in shock and disbelief.”

Besides offering quality education,  the school boasts elite sports facilities for talented athletes.

Some of the sports offered at the school include hockey, soccer, tennis, basketball, swimming and netball.
