THE State Lottery has released $12 000 to Matabeleland South province to undertake developmental projects in the province as part of its social responsibility duties.
The Minister of Rural Development, Promotion and Preservation of National Culture and Heritage, Cde Abedinico Ncube, revealed that the money has already been handed to the province.
“The State Lottery has allocated the province $12 000 and that money has already been received. Out of the money each of the districts will get $1 000.
$2 000 will be given to the Matabeleland South Youth Games team for their preparations and participation in the games in Chinhoyi,” said Cde Ncube.
The province has seven districts.
The Minister also allocated $2 000 from the money for the hosting of the Heroes and Defence Forces’ Days commemorations.
“The remainder of the money went to service bank charges,” he said.
The State Lottery has been occasionally disbursing funds for social services in the country.
State Lotteries was established in 1935 through an Act of Parliament and is administered by the Ministry of Home Affairs under the Lotteries and Gaming Act.The State Lottery channels some of its proceeds towards charitable causes.
