Melodious harmonies and distinct African vocals have allowed United Kingdom based Zimbabwean singer and songwriter Loveness Mukutirwa to establish a unique signature sound.

With lyrics that carry messages of hope, faith, healing and teaching, Loveness aspires to use her music to bridge the gap between countries.

The gospel diva recently released a new song titled, “You Are Great” accompanied by visuals shot in Australia.

While music is referred to as the rhythm of the nation, Loveness said she has great responsibility as a musician in diaspora to not only sing, but to preach and market Zimbabwe through gospel.

“This is my first song from my second album to be released this year.

“You are Great’, is a testimonial, sharing the greatness of God and it is directed to God, telling him how great he is for the healing, love, mercy that he keeps on showing us his children. I feel I carry a load, a responsibility to talk about God in Zimbabwean way, marketing our identity and culture.”

Loveness said the song was inspired by the Biblical verse Psalm 135.

“The experiences with God and His word is what inspired me the most to pen such song.”

“However, there is also the aspect of society settings from my background to the time I got married. Life is different in the United Kingdom compared to back home, but I am happy that the love of God is universal no matter were you are, hence the title ‘You are Great'”.

Asked who her role model was, Loveness said she has so many people she looked up to.

“I have so many people I look up to, in their ministration, but I would say Ntokozo Mbambo. I like her because of her integrity, determination and courage. Her worship style and the way and how she ministers inspires me a lot,” said Loveness.

After the release of the visuals of ‘You Are Great’, many asked about the budget and why the video was shot in Australia.

She said didn’t plan for it because they had gone on vacation Down Under..

“We had gone for holiday as a family then we saw how beautiful the country was, seeing beautiful places, the oceans, mountains and atmosphere.

“So, I told my husband that we are only seeing God’s greatness then we thought let’s do the video here. This is how it came out about to be.”

She said due to public demand, she is planning to stage a concert in Zimbabwe before the year ends.

“By God’s grace, we working on having the song being performed live in Zimbabwe before our fans. I am happy with overwhelming responses on social media as this is most we have put our music.”

Loveness says gospel music is dominating in foreign land and appreciates how fans in the diasporiaare supporting it.

“I see gospel music as a calling. It is an honour to be allowed by God to preach about the good news of Jesus Christ through music. The only challenge we face as gospel artistes, especially females, is support from corporates and how local platforms are difficult to penetrate. I can’t say I am facing any challenges, because I am a believer of Jesus Christ who believes that everything works together for good to those who love God.”

Married to Eddie Mukutirwa, Loveness is a mother of three, entrepreneur, philanthropist and a health specialist.

She is an elder in the Zaoga Forward in Faith Ministries Church.

Born and raised in a Christian background, Loveness grew up in a family of nine inHarare and Chiweshe.

At the age of 12, that is when she received Jesus Christ as her saviour and, ever since then she hasn’t looked back.

“I started singing in church with my brother Godfrey when I was nine years old.”

“My first recording was in August 2019 and three months later I launched my first album ‘Genesis’. I have been performing in the United Kingdom at various shows and like I said, my music should unite Africa,” she explained.
