A MAKONI villager will forever rue his insatiable appetite for married women after a traditional court found him guilty of dating his neighbour’s wife and fined him six cattle.
Kelvin Nemaire of Chigudu Village was caught red-handed with Benjamin Manyika’s wife, Judith Kazumba, as he was caressing her in the bush.
Nemaira then stoned his lover’s husband on the forehead as he scurried away from the love nest.
Manyika told the court that although he is hurt by his wife’s infidelity, he has since forgiven her.
“I gathered through the grapevine that Nemaire was having an affair with my wife, but I failed to gather incriminating evidence. On December 4, 2021, I left home to fetch firewood. While I was relaxing on a mountain, I saw Nemaire walking towards my home. My wife emerged from the house.
“They met outside and started walking towards a bushy area. I disembarked from the mountain running, intending to intercept them. I hid behind a tree and I saw them hugging and caressing each other. When the love birds were about to lay down, my wife spotted me as she was facing the direction I was hiding. She alerted Nemaire and they bolted from the scene in different directions,” said Manyika.
He said he ran after Nemaire who picked up a stone and hit him on the forehead.
“I sustained an injury from the attack.
“Together with my brother we went to Nemaire’s homestead, but we could not locate him. We informed his wife what had transpired. I went home and my wife was nowhere to be found for three days. She later came back and begged for forgiveness.
“I reported the matter to Headman Chigudu where my wife surprisingly denied ever dating Nemaire. She, however, made a U-turn and confirmed their affair.
“I have since forgiven my wife and we are now back together,” Manyika told the court.
Nemaire denied ever dating Kazumba, saying Manyika and his wife are framing him.
However, Kazumba told the court that they had been having a sexual relationship since January last year till the day they were caught.
She was asked to describe any unique features on Nemaire’s body and she told the court that he has some scars on his ribs and also that he is not circumcised.
Nemaire was examined by Chief Makoni’s aides and they confirmed Kazumba’s descriptions.
“I started dating him in January last year till the day we were caught. We slept together on several occasions,” Kazumba told the court.
