A Kadoma-based real estate company, Craft Properties, has started developing land for the construction of 1 573 houses for civil servants in the town at a cost of US$14,9 million. The company’s managing director, Mr Kudakwashe Taruberekera, told The Herald his organisation would construct roads, install water and sewage infrastructure and build two-roomed core houses.
“We are building low-cost houses to help provide an opportunity for people, in particular civil servants, to own houses,” he said.
The prices for the houses range from US$8 500 to US$9 500 depending on the size.
He said the scheme for the Holy Land high density suburb had payment plans.
“The scheme is part of efforts by our company to support President Mugabe’s indigenisation and employment creation drive,” Mr Taruberekera said.
“We believe we have a role to play in supporting our Government’s policy to provide decent accommodation to the people.”
Civil servants offered the houses can pay monthly instalments of about US$147 over 72 months.
