Manicaland Agricultural Show got underway yesterday with few visitors, while some exhibitors were still putting final touches to their stands. The show administrator Mr Edmond Nenguke expressed hope that attendance by both visitors and exhibitors would increase as the exhibition week progresses.
“Today was mostly a preparation day and it cannot be used to judge the turnout of people for the show,” he said. “We are expecting that exhibitors will increase as the week progresses. As we speak, some of the organisations which are willing to take part in the exhibitions are still calling. They are showing interest and some are still making payment plans so that they take part in the exhibition.”
Mr Nenguke said although it appeared as if there was a general low turn out of exhibitors this year, they had in fact surpassed the numbers recorded last year. He said last year there were about 160 exhibitors, while this year the number had significantly increased.
“The number of exhibitors has increased as compared to last year. considering that some are still calling, so we expect to have a bigger number this year,” said Mr Nenguke. Today (yesterday) cannot be used to judge the number of people who are coming. The numbers will definitely increase as the week progresses.”
When The Herald visited the exhibition park, some exhibitors were making final touches at their respective stands.
There were also very few show-goers.
