THERE is growing speculation on the future of a number of English Premier League (EPL) stars after the summer transfer window opened on Wednesday.
Marvelous Nakamba’s future is also still subject to speculation a few weeks after the Zimbabwe international helped Luton Town to a historic promotion into the EPL.
The 29-year-old Nakamba, who spent six months on loan at Luton, reverted to being an Aston Villa player at the conclusion of the 2022/2023 season.
The Hatters last week hinted they were prepared to sign the midfielder.
The player is presently in the country, while waiting to know his fate.
His Marvelous Nakamba Foundation (MNF) has some philanthropic work lined up in the next few weeks.
Olympic Lyon striker Tino Kadewere is also still enjoying his holiday as he ponders on his next move, amid interest from Ligue 1 side Montpellier and Saudi Arabian clubs.
He was on loan at Real Mallorca in Spain but the LaLiga side have opted against signing him on a permanent deal.
There is still no official position on Khama Billiat, who has reportedly agreed to take a pay cut and stay on for another season at Kaizer Chiefs.
Billiat’s manager Godfrey “Vokal” Bakasa did not respond to questions sent by The Sunday Mail Sport.
Kaizer Chiefs have also been linked with another Zimbabwean, Kundai Benyu, according to reports.
Online publication Goal.com yesterday indicated that Benyu is now a free agent after his contract with IBV of Iceland expired at the end of last season.
His handlers are in talks with Kaizer Chiefs and their rivals Orlando Pirates.
“Chiefs and Pirates are understood to have shown interest in the midfielder and talks with Benyu’s handlers have been opened.
“The Soweto giants could be involved in a transfer brawl in the upcoming weeks,” wrote Goal.com.
Benyu thinks he is ready for a move to the South African PSL.
“It will be a challenge, of course, because I have only played my football in Africa on a few occasions with Zimbabwe at the Africa Cup of Nations, which is the highest standard of African football,” Benyu told Goal.com.
Elsewhere, Warriors left-back Divine Lunga is back at South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns, after spending a season on loan at Golden Arrows, where he played 30 games.
The 28-year-old, however, has to fight for his place at Sundowns, as the left-back position is a bit congested.
His move to Arrows in July last year was prompted by the desire for more game time after playing only 12 in his maiden season at Sundowns.
According to South African soccer magazine Kick Off, Lunga’s deal with the Brazilians could also be revised.
“Lunga joined Sundowns from Arrows in July on a five-year deal, including options that are now facing the prospect of being revised.
“Kick Off can reveal that while the Zimbabwean is technically heading for a return to Chloorkop, where he still has an ongoing contract, there could be discussions around revising his deal.”
However, Lunga is now due to become eligible for permanent residence, which will allow him to be listed as a non-foreigner.
