THE Lupane Local Board will avail more than 200 residential stands before the end of next month, a project aimed at enhancing Lupane town status and prepare for anticipated accommodation demand brought about by the relocation of Lupane State University.
In an interview, Lupane Local Board chairperson Mrs Monica Ngwenya said the stands will not be availed in the new location but in an area which was approved long back.
“The stands are going to be allocated according to the time when the applicant applied for a stand. The stands are not confined to people from Lupane but anyone who has interest is free to join in the waiting list because we consider every Zimbabwean has the right to own a stand,” she said.
Mrs Ngwenya said the development is influenced by the increased functionality of Lupane State University which has brought a large number of students and staff as well as their families to the town.
Mrs Ngwenya said the relocation of the university to Lupane has increased the need for infrastructure development and that will create job opportunities.
