Luveve community boreholes commissioned

Sunday News Reporter
UNITED States-based philantrophist, Innocent Hadebe believes communities should work hard to develop themselves instead of waiting for outsiders to come to their rescue.

Speaking during, the commissioning of a borehole drilled by Lot Water Project at the Ugandan Martyrs Roman Catholic Church in Luveve last Tuesday, Hadebe urged communities to put aside their differences and work together and unite in building their communities.

He said petty differences should be set aside and should not be allowed to derail development projects.

“I think what is important is that as communities we come together, unite, share ideas and then implement whatever initiatives we come up with for us to achieve success as a community.  As Luveve, we should be the ones spearheading development here. We need to change the way we think, work together lockup and move forward together, one step at a time, one project at a time and when you look back in two years, five years you will be amazed at the amount of work that we would have done,” he said.

The launch also saw the commissioning of two other solar-powered boreholes installed at Luveve Primary and Nzwananzi Primary Schools through the Lot Water Project which was founded by Hadebe in 2020.

The event was also attended by Hadebe’s partners, Americans, Lisa Churchfield and Cherrod Pate.
Churchfield told the gathering how a strong personal relationship with Hadebe that began at work saw them work together beyond their employ.

“Hadebe engaged me about the project and I was convinced and although we did not have funds we reached out to other people we know and they assisted us. We didn’t have all the answers neither did we know we would be here one day but at every juncture we faced problems, we prayed about it and God made a way. We have done six but committed to doing more,” she said.

Pate said the authenticity and purity of the project has seen people readily assisting their cause. The commissioning was attended by the Luveve Member of Parliament, Stella Ndlovu, Jasmine Toffa, Roman Catholic Priests, officials and pupils from Luveve Primary and Nzwananzi Primary and Luveve residents.

Lot Water Project has completed the drilled of six boreholes in the Luveve Constituency and are hoping to add six more before the end of the year following the acquisition of a borehole rig.
