Luveve Stadium loses PSL approval… As Barbourfields faces fixture congestion

LUVEVE Stadium has been dehomologated, a development confirmed by a reliable source, forcing Bulawayo’s three Premier Soccer League clubs — Highlanders FC, Bulawayo Chiefs FC and Chicken Inn FC — to share Barbourfields Stadium for their home fixtures.

Dehomologation means the stadium has had its official approval withdrawn by the authorities after failing to meet required standards, rendering it unfit to host top-flight matches.

The decision means Luveve can no longer stage Premier Soccer League (PSL) games. While authorities are yet to publicly outline the specific areas of concern, the move leaves Barbourfields as the city’s only approved venue for PSL action.

The development is expected to bring logistical challenges, particularly around fixture scheduling and pitch maintenance, with three teams now relying on a single ground. There are also financial considerations, as clubs adjust to the new hosting arrangements.
