LUXURY coaches plying the Harare-Bulawayo-Victoria Falls route have slashed fares by an average of $5 in a bid to attract customers amid increasing competition from the growing number of players. The “classy” coaches used to capitalise on the demise of Air Zimbabwe but now have to contend with competition from the more convenient daily low cost flights linking the three destinations and a horde of public and private operators.
Bravo Tours announced the reduction of fares in a statement last week. “We’re pleased to let you know that our fares have been reduced by a massive $5 and the promotion will continue running openly. Take up this opportunity for your personal or company travel obligations and save to your convenience,” said Bravo.
The company said the Bulawayo-Gweru route now costs $15 from $20, the Bulawayo-Kwekwe route now costs $20 from $25. The same fare applies to the Bulawayo-Kadoma route.
The fare from Bulawayo to Chegutu has also been reduced to $20 from $25 while the Bulawayo-Harare journey now costs $25 from $30.
Intercape-Pathfinder has also reduced fares for its shorter routes along the same route.
Travelling from Harare to Gweru and Harare to Kwekwe now costs $15 while the Harare-Bulawayo route costs $20 from $25. The Harare-Bulawayo-Victoria Falls route costs $30.
Recently City Link coaches also cut the fare for the Harare-Bulawayo route to $20 from $30 with no food offered on board.
Eagle Liner, a semi luxurious coach, charges $20 for the same route.
Other road transporters charge between $10 and $13 for the Bulawayo-Harare route and the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls route.
