match between Zimbabwe’s Mighty Warriors and Angola held at the ceremonial home of football – Rufaro Stadium.
There the Mighty Warriors proved they are still a force on the pitch when they beat Angola 2-0 in a match watched by a bumper crowd, thanks to free admission.
At the final whistle, ZBCTV went straight into “Zvavanhu”, a programme hosted by National Ethos gurus Professor Isheunesu Mupepereki of the “haro kora” fame, Dr Tafataona Mahoso and anchored by Dr Vimbai Chivaura.
The three learned hosts really dazzle me every time they are on the screen.
I like the use of the rich Shona language on the programme and their arguments are simply out of the ordinary.
As he gave introductions Dr Chivaura was excited that the names of the panellists were all in Shona and at time made reference to their totems indicating according to his own words that “ndezvanhu”.
I don’t know if the viewers have the same sense as mine but I honestly find the programme very entertaining and, of course, educative.
Once in a while you have to see these guys doing what they do on TV and you could learn a thing a two about Zimbabweans.
Since the programme lasts not more than 30 minutes I then switched to Big Brother Amplified on Channel 198.
Of all the things that happened on that eviction show I could not help but notice the change by MultiChoice from Alexander Forbes to Ernst & Young as their auditors.
Remember during last year’s Big Brother All Stars when Zimbabwe’s Munyaradzi Chidzonga was robbed of victory by Nigeria’s Uti Nwachwuku.
Of course, we all recall that it was the most disheartening moment for all the reality series’ fans.
However, MultiChoice who own M-Net, did not respond to the fraud allegations and pretended that everything was above board.
But the question is, if Alexander Forbes had done a good job why did M-Net decide to move from Alexander Forbes to Ernst & Young for this season?
I still feel that something was wrong with last year’s results and M-Net’s fear of losing credibility over the controversial results have changed the auditors. As the race for the US$200 000 prize money begins, may the deserving housemate wins.
Now that M-Net have engaged Ernst & Young we hope the results will be free and fair!
