GIVING up Dynamos’ five-year Harare derby stranglehold on perennial rivals CAPS United in a 2-1 defeat at Rufaro on Sunday opened up head coach Lloyd Chigowe’s old wounds.

Makepekepe made a dramatic second half comeback in the last 20 minutes of the hyped Castle Lager Premiership MatchDay 29 encounter.

Former Dynamos man Jayden Bakari, who came in as a substitute, and Rodwell Chinyengetere easily found the net to outdo Valentine Kadonzvo’ s 39th minute goal for Dynamos.

MaBlanyo, as Chigowe is affectionately known, said the defeat revived the heartbreak he felt when Dynamos fell out of the CAF Confederations Cup recently.

“I hate losing, especially in a derby, no one wants that,” he said.

“The feeling I have right now is exactly what I felt when we fell out of the Confederations Cup, it is indescribable.

“I had faith in the team and even told them that they had all it takes to make it to the next round but unfortunately some things just go beyond the coach’s control.”

Despite visible defensive blunders costing the team in the Harare Derby, he feels that it is in fact the absence of his striker Sadney Urikhob that affected the team’s performance.

“What happened today just took me back to Botswana, how things unfolded there really broke my heart and I believe that had Urikhob been available, it would have been a different story,” he said.

“Urikhob would have taken us into the next round at the Confederations Cup and even here today, I know that had he been available, he would have made a difference.

“We had the chance to create goals in the first half but we failed, some of the situations I know would have been put to good use had he (Urikhob) been there.

“His injury left us bleeding, he was supposed to be our ticket to greater heights at CAF.”

The expatriate, together with trusted defender Kelvin Moyo picked injuries during the preliminary round clash against Zambia’s ZESCO United earlier last month.

While Moyo is back, Urikhob who briefly featured in some of their local fixtures recently is yet to return to full fitness hence missing the derby.
