A 34-YEAR-OLD man (34) has been jailed for 47 years after he was found guilty of raping three women in Macheke recently.
Marondera magistrate Mrs Letwin Rwodzi slapped the man with a 45-year jail term for rape and an additional two years for indecent assault.
Prosecutor Ms Marvellous Machacha proved that on January 13, 2026, around 12pm, two women, aged 51 and 23 were walking from work when they met the 34-year-old man, who then started to accuse them of seeing him while he was relieving himself by the roadside, and he also wanted to see them naked.
She said the man took a switch from a nearby tree and ordered the women to kneel and they complied.
The court heard that he started to assault the women before he ordered them to undress, and that they complied out of fear.
The court further heard that the 34-year-old man then raped the 23-year-old woman. The man also urinated on the private parts of the 51-year-old woman.
Prosecutor Machacha said the 23-year-old woman reported the matter to the police. She said on the next day, the convict raped another woman (26) who was on her way to Waterloo.
She said that as the woman was passing, she noticed the man acting as if he was relieving himself on the side of the road.
The court heard that the complainant tried to avoid the man, but he asked her why she wanted to run away.
When she tried to explain herself, the man grabbed her hand and started assaulting her with a wooden stick, accusing her of seeing him naked, before he forcibly removed her clothes and raping her.
After the act, the court heard that he instructed the woman to put on her clothes before he took US$8, which was in her purse and ran away.
“The complainant filed a report with the Zimbabwe Republic Police,” Ms Machacha said.
On the same day, Ms Machacha said the same man came across a 24-year-old woman carrying a child on her back, walking on the road heading for Nhowe Mission Hospital.
She said the woman noticed the man relieving himself on the side of the road. The convict, she said, followed the complainant and instructed her to remove the child from her back, but she refused, leading to the man assaulting the woman, causing the child to fall to the ground.
Ms Machacha said the man went on to trip the woman and she fell on the ground and he removed her undergarments and raped her.
She said the woman then reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of the man.
