Sungura legend Alick Macheso and his Orchestra Mberikwazvo are set to invade Mutare tomorrow with a show at The Platinum.

The show comes after the re-opening of The Platinum (formerly Pick ‘n’ Save) a couple of weeks ago after some renovations.

Macheso has promised to play complete songs from his forthcoming album.

Apart from the new songs that the fans should be anxiously expecting, the music giant will also give his fans some of his old songs.

In an interview, one of the organisers of the show Isau Mupfumi said fans should come in numbers to have a nice time over the weekend with their sungura giant.

“Everything is in place. People should come prepared for the best.

“You should not worry about possible rains as everything is taken care of, come and enjoy the best entertainment. I hope the show will be like that of Sulu and Jah Prayzah that took place recently and fans came in numbers to the extent that the venue was a full house,” he said

The Mutare businessman, who is affectionately known as ‘Chibaba’ in the entertainment circles, said the festive season had opened and top artistes will continue to grace the popular place.

Jah Prayzah and Suluman Chimbetu were the first to perform at the venue after renovations and managed to pull hordes of fans from all over Mutare. Mutare people are expecting Macheso to do the same or even surpass the mark.

Apart from the sungura bag, Zimdancehall artists such as Killer T, Soul Jah Love, Seh Calaz, Tocky Vibes among others are some of the musicians that are also expected to perform at The Platinum Bar.

From the renovations and re-branding, the venue now boasts of its state-of-the-art VIP lounge and an extended butchery and a braai section.

The stage is well-decorated to give an attractive and refreshing outlook.
