Alick Macheso celebrated his 55th birthday and the launch of his sons’ new album at Tanza Centre, Chitungwiza.

Macheso was born on June 10, 1968.

Esau and Tatenda Macheso released an album called Pahukama, comprising six tracks last Friday.

The event marked a double celebration for Macheso as he applauded his sons for following in his footsteps and asked his fans to support his sons’ music.

The brothers’ album carries six tracks, Muporofita, Vanotiropadza, Shuviro Yenyu, Dai mavagonesa, Ndipeiwo Mukana and the title track, Pahukama.

“We are happy as Team Mberikwazvo for Baba Sharo’s birthday celebrations. It was double celebrations if you followed our performance at Tanza Centre.

“People showed up in numbers and we were really impressed by the big turnout,” said Tich Makahamadze, the Orchestra Mberikwazvo publicist.

“As we indicated before the launch, the boys nailed it and the album was just perfect. We hope they will continue working hard and improving.

“Baba Sharo has vowed to continue assisting them,” said Makahamadze.

“It is always comforting to know that your legacy is in safe hands. I once shared a stage with them and I was asked by my fans to go home and sleep and let my sons finish the show,” Macheso said.

Macheso is also known for grooming other sons of music legends and preparing them for the music industry.

He has groomed Morgan and Tendai Dembo, Tryson Chimbetu and Tedious Muchapedza Matsito Junior, among others.

Most sons and daughters of music legends struggle when their parents die as they start learning the craft without them.

This is one thing Macheso has avoided by teaching his sons the ropes while he’s still alive.

He has been monitoring their progress ever since they approached him seeking his blessings go venture into music.
