ALICK Macheso said he is a proud father seeing his two sons – Esau and Tatenda – follow in his footsteps.
The brothers, who lead Orchestra Mberikwazvo Junior, will be launching their debut album titled Pahukama Hwedu tonight.
It’s part of the celebrations of their father’s 55th birthday tomorrow.
In an interview with H-Metro, Baba Sharo said when his sons opened up to him about their quest to pursue music, it was a surprise to him.
“I am very proud of my sons, it’s always an honour to teach them one or two things when it comes to music.
“Seeing my sons follow in my footsteps means a lot to me, all my fans, varungu vangu, should support Orchestra Mberikwazvo Junior.
“It is always comforting to know that your legacy is in safe hands.
“I once shared the stage with them where I was asked by my fans to go back home and sleep for my sons to finish the show.”
Baba Sharo said he always advises them to do their music differently so as to prove themselves to the world.
“We can’t have a generation whereby you change a song that was once done by another musician and say that is your song.
“They must produce their own music and be proud of it.
“As much as I am their father, it’s not all the time that I can help them.
“I only help here and there.”
