JUST days after staging a successful Cheso Power Festival, sungura legend Alick Macheso’s camp says they are feeling the true love of Zimbabweans.
The Orchestra Mberikwazvo frontman this week took delivery of his repaired Toyota Fortuner GD6, which was extensively damaged in a recent road accident along the Harare–Mutoko Road.
In a remarkable gesture of corporate goodwill, Motornet Panel Beaters repaired the vehicle free of charge before handing it back to the musician at the company’s headquarters in Harare.
Orchestra Mberikwazvo spokesperson, Tich Makahamadze, said the gesture has moved their camp.
“Words are not enough to thank the management at Motornet Panel Beaters for what they have done for us,” said Makahamadze.
“When our boss was involved in the accident, we never imagined that a Good Samaritan would come forward and offer such incredible support.
“We never expected such an amazing act of kindness. We are truly grateful,” he said.
In a video that has since gone viral, Macheso said he was deeply touched by the gesture.
“I never imagined that a company could come through for me like this without even being asked.
“It means a lot to me and my family. I thank God for sparing my life, and I am grateful to Motornet for this kindness,” he said.
Motornet Panel Beaters managing director, Tapiwa Parirenyatwa, said the company decided to repair the vehicle after learning about the accident, adding that the decision came naturally.
“Baba Shero has entertained Zimbabweans for many years. His music has been part of our lives through both happy and difficult moments.
“When we heard about the accident, we felt it was only right to play our small part in supporting him,” said Parirenyatwa.
