AFRO pop musicians Gemma Griffiths and Alick Macheso seem to have found a new relationship, beyond music, of father and daughter.
Pictures of the two artists together during the Dubai-Australia tour have been recently awash on social media.
Macheso also played bass guitar for Gemma during her performance of the song Titungamire.
Gemma, who is over the moon, could not hide her joy as she told H-Metro her experience with the legendary Macheso.
“I still can’t believe it. He calls me his seventh child and I think he’s the wisest and coolest person ever.
“He has been playing bass on my song Titungamire. I’m so humbled by the experience,” she said.
Gemma said she will cherish this tour with Macheso for life.
“This (tour) and singing with Baba Tuku are moments I will cherish for life. The tour has been amazing and I am so honoured to have spent this time with the legend Macheso.
“I am learning so much from him.
“The entire band feels like family and we are enjoying connecting with Zimbabweans in Dubai and Australia,” said Gemma.
She, however, could not discuss any prospects of working with Macheso in future, although she was elated to have the sungura ace on tour.
“I’m reeling to be honest.
“I’m enjoying myself on the road but I’ll keep you posted with anything further,” she said.
Titungamire is one of the popular projects which have cemented the relationship between Gemma and music followers.
Her biggest collaboration in her career so far is with the dancehall star Winky D.
