Macheso heads for Vic Falls

SUNGURA ace Alick Macheso is expected to serenade revellers when he headlines at the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society Charity Concert slated for Chinotimba Stadium in Victoria Falls this Thursday. The “Charakupa” hitmaker, who is also the ZRCS humanitarian ambassador, is expected to record a live DVD at the show that will also feature upcoming musicians from the area.

ZRCS marketing and public relations manager Takemore Mazuruse said preparations for the concert were at an advanced stage.
“Red Cross seeks to extend and celebrate its impartial humanitarian work through song and dance at the same time fund-raise for charity-related projects. We confirmed that Ambassador Macheso is set to rekindle his romance with his Matabeleland fans.

“The ambassador is also going to meet with ZRCS partners from across the globe as well as the Red Cross provincial team,” said Mazuruse.
The “King of Sungura”, as Macheso is affectionely known to his fans, vowed to put up a well-choreographed performance for his fans who have been starved of his live shows for long.

“We are taking Mberikwazvo to Victoria Falls next week for another exciting show that sets the tone for closing acts for 2013. As Red Cross humanitarian ambassador, I feel honoured to be part of the Red Cross family and do charity work in the country and the world at large.

“My fans should brace for a rare treat as the Orchestra Mberikwazvo team is geared for the gig. Zvinongoda kutendwa nekuti musiki ndiye anotitendera (All credit should be given to God),” Macheso said.

The concert has sent Chinotimba town abuzz. The excitement has spread across the Zambian border where Macheso commands a huge following.

Macheso was appointed as the Red Cross humanitarian ambassador early this year and has embarked on a number of fund-raising events including the inaugural charity concert held in Mbare.
