Sungura kingpin, Alick Macheso has hinted on another collaboration with chanter Freeman after the duo mesmerised fans at the just ended Kadoma Music Festival.
The two shared stage with Jamaican music stars Busy Signal and Chris Martin. They were part of an array of local acts that also included Winky D, Feli Nandi, Julian King, Qounfused and Kurai Makore.
Freeman who meant business on the night opened his set with Ngaibake setting the tone for his fans.After sharing their rejuvenation, Macheso teased on the upcoming project.
“Freeman ndichamutsvaga futi pamberi ipapa tipinde mustudio, pane zvandakamurongera mukomana iyeyu,” said Macheso as he made his way off the stage.
Macheso’s renewed desire to work with Freeman has left his fans talking whether the connection he felt on stage reignited his passion to make more music. Prior to their duet, Macheso had delivered a polished act, demonstrating a high degree of refinement.Freeman is on record praising his collaboration with Alick Macheso, describing the partnership on the song as ‘one of the best collaborations ever’.
“Without collaborating with Mudhara (Macheso), “Ngaibake” was not going to be as popular as it has been,” said Freeman in an 2019 interview with The Sunday Mail.
The song is off Freeman’s Gango album which carries 10-tracks.
Freeman has already expressed pride in his work with Macheso, highlighting it as a significant moment in their careers.
Ngaibake video released six years ago now seats on 6,4 million vies on YouTube.
The song has also won multiple awards, including the Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA) for Best Music Video of the Year, the Star FM Awards for People’s Choice, and a top 50 position in the ZBC TV Awards.
On October 25, Freeman celebrates his second edition of the HKD Music Festival at Glamis Arena, where he has also invited Killer T, Feli Nandi, Seh Calaz, Voltz JT, Delroy Shewe, Baba Harare, Nutty O and Atenda Chinx among others.
