VETERAN promoter Josh Hozheri says Alick Macheso is now the biggest music brand in the country.
Local promoters have been hailing the sungura superstar for successfully launching his 12th album titled ‘Tinosvitswa Nashe’ in style.
The launch, which coincided with his 54th birthday at Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex, was oversubscribed with late comers being turned away.
Following Macheso’s milestone, promoters said the Orchestra Mberikwazvo camp nailed it this time around.
Speaking to H-Metro, Hozheri, who has worked with Macheso over the years, said:
“The album shows that the music has graduated.
“The tracks show that Baba Shero is now a superstar.
“I can safely say that Macheso is the biggest brand in Zimbabwean music right now.
“We should not measure fame by social media followers but by the attendance to live shows.”
Hozheri said Macheso has remained at the summit due to hard work and consistency.

“One thing that people need to know is that consistency pays.
“This is Macheso’s time now, he has worked for this and deserves to shine,” he said.
Hozheri urged musicians to unite with various stakeholders to ensure they conquer as a sector.
“Unity is important in the music industry though the industry is all about competition.
“It is commendable to work with others because you never know when you want their help.
“The presence of fellow musicians at Macheso’s launch was extraordinary.”
Similar sentiments were echoed by Itai Motsi of the Las Vegas stable.
“Macheso’s music continues to mature with time.
“He is a brand that has grown bigger and bigger.
“Unity among musicians is very critical as it brings musicians together.
“Macheso is our father figure and that is why we went in numbers to support him,” he said.
Partson Chimbodza, of Chipaz Promotions, hailed Macheso for his work ethic.
“As a promoter and someone who was involved in organising the launch, I will let fans react to the album.
“However, as long as you keep the same momentum in art, people will always respect and want to listen to your music and will remain loyal,” he said.
Chipaz said unity prevailed during and before Macheso’s album launch.
“Unity is important in every sector since it helps to push numbers, especially in showbiz,” he added.
