SUPERSTAR Alick Macheso says he has learnt with shock the death of Zex Manatsa’s widow, Stella.

Gogo Manatsa died yesterday in her sleep, according to her son, Green.

She was 68.

Following her death, fellow players in the creative sector have been sending condolence messages to the family.

And, Macheso, who has just returned for an international tour, said he was gutted after learning about the death.

Speaking to H-Metro after touching down at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, Macheso said:

“I found out about this shocking news from our WhatsApp group when I arrived in South Africa, before connecting to Harare.

“I can’t believe she is gone, I was chatting with one of her sons backstage at our show in Leicester.

“Our father (Zex Manatsa) died early this year and I can’t believe this loss again,” he said.

The Orchestra Mberikwazvo boss urged the Manatsa family to find comfort in the Lord and keep their musical legacy intact.

“My condolences go to the family and nation because these people sang well for us.

“It now requires the next generation of the Manatsas to take over and take their legacy further.

“May their souls rest in peace,” he said.

Romeo Gasa, who welcomed Macheso at the airport, was equally gutted.

“I would like to pay my condolences, on behalf of us artists, for such a loss.

“We thought when our father Zex Manatsa passed on, he left us his wife, as our mother.

“I urge the family to remain strong and keep the fire burning,” he said.

Gogo Manatsa is survived by six boys and 14 grandchildren.

Mourners are gathered at No.3564 Westminster Road, Mabelreign.
