VETERAN sungura musician, Alick Macheso has revealed that he will unleash all songs from his forthcoming six-track album, Tsoka dzerwendo when he performs at popular entertainment centre, The Platinum on Christmas Day (tomorrow).
The shrewd bass guitarist will perform alongside gospel supremo, Blessing Shumba on the same night.
The Tafadzwa Nyarara hit-maker told The Weekender that the much-awaited album was recorded successfully and would be released “soon” without divulging when exactly the project would hit the streets.
“We feel privileged to unleash our new songs to our legion of fans in Mutare on a special day like Christmas. We decided to come to the eastern border city with new songs because of so many reasons. Our fans there stood by us through thick and thin and this is part of our appreciation to them. We value our fans.
“We urge people to come in numbers and enjoy such a special day in style,” said Macheso, speaking through his manager Lucky Macheso.
The Orchestra Mberikwazvo camp was today (Thursday) expected to travel to Beira in Mozambique for another show.
Macheso, on Sunday, left scores of revelers crying for more when they performed at Nyanga Country Club.
He belted a blend of new and old tracks till wee hours of Monday morning.
He performed alongside sungura-jit musician Landmine Madongonda who also did well. Macheso joined the Nyanga-based rhythm guitarist on stage and belted the late John Chibadura’s yester-year hit, Mukadzi wamakandiroorera, off the album Mutumwa released in 1996.
Gospel sensation, Shumba will perform first before Macheso jumps on stage at 10 pm. The rare combination is certainly going to mesmerise thousands of revelers expected to throng the venue.
“It is going to be a blissful night. It is my honour to perform alongside one of Zimbabwe’s finest musicians. We are ready for the show. We are going to belt out some of our new tracks from our forthcoming album to be released in March as well as hits from our previous albums,” said the talented composer, singer and dancer.
Organisers of the event said more surprise artistes were lined up to perform at the venue before the year curtains down.
