SUNGURA maestro Alick Macheso is set to revive the once popular Jabula Inn nightspot in Esigodini with a show on Sunday. Taking over management from Joram Moyo, South Africa-based Zimbabwean business couple Lingani and Sikholiwe Dlodlo want to revitalise the once popular entertainment outlet. “Jabula Inn is now under new management and who better to bring the spot back to life than Alick Macheso and his Orchestra Mberikwazvo band,” show organiser – Assan Mandizvidza said.
Next month, revellers will be entertained by Madzibaba Nicholas Zakaria as the nightspot’s new management wants to bring back the yester year glory that it once had.
Mandizvidza said not holding big shows at Jabula Inn for the past two years had led many to believe that the spot had closed down.
“Many thought Jabula Inn had closed down because it was a venue popular for prime entertainment on the outskirts of Bulawayo. The place hasn’t had a meaningful show for the past two years with the last show having been Slizer and Young Igwe,” said Mandizvidza.
The spot used to be a hive of activity with artistes such as Oliver Mtukudzi, Macheso, Motswana artiste Slizer, Nicholas Zakaria, the late Tongai “Dhewa” Moyo and his son Peter Young Igwe, Bev and the Sexy angels, and Zoey and the Red Angels holding regular shows there.
