What started as a friendly hunt for a wild fruit popularly known as umgwadi turned nasty when a man hacked his friend with a machete over the fruit. The Zhombe man is battling for life at Kwekwe District Hospital after he was attacked with a machete following a dispute involving the wild fruit.
Motion Fuzhe is battling for life after he was attacked with a machete in the head by a friend, Siphilanzima Moyo following a dispute over the sharing of their harvest.
Moyo was arrested and arraigned before Kwekwe magistrate Mr Storey Rushambwa facing assault charges.
He was remanded in custody to 30 October for trial after pleading not guilty to the charge.
Allegations are that on 11 October, at around 9 am in Village Mbole, under Chief Malisa Zhombe, the two were looking for wild fruits together.
A misunderstanding arose between the two after Fuzhe accused Moyo of taking some of his umgwadi.
This did not go down well with the accused who drew a machete and struck Fuzhe on the head and shoulder.
Fuzhe was ferried to a nearby clinic where he was referred to Kwekwe District Hospital where he is battling for life.
