THEY say a picture tells a thousand words and, in Madam Boss’ case, her pictures tell thousands of words.

Taken just one year apart, in the same American City of Angels, at the same BET Awards function, in the same month − these photographs, more than anything else, illustrate how much Madam Boss’ body has changed in the last 12 months.

Madam Boss’ dramatic transformation and weight loss has been a staple diet for the social media playing fields in this country for some time now.

But, maybe, it’s something we should have expected once she started her trips to America to mingle with the rich and famous and the Real Housewives of Los Angeles.

For in the multi-billion dollar entertainment industry of the City of Angels, looks are everything and your body size can make or break you.

Hollywood has for some time now faced accusations of promoting unhealthy body images.

It’s something that legends like Emma Thompson have addressed.

She caught the attention of the world when she revealed that the intense pressure exerted on Hollywood actresses to be thin was “evil,” and things were only getting worse.

“The anorexia − there are so many kids, girls and boys now, and actresses who are very, very thin, who are into their 30s, simply don’t eat,” she said.

She revealed she even threatened to quit starring in a movie when her co-star was told to lose weight.

“The producers said to her, ‘Will you lose some weight?’. She was absolutely exquisite. I said to them, ‘If you speak to her about this again, on any level, I will leave this picture.’

“It’s evil, what’s happening, what’s going on out there, and it’s getting worse.”

Thompson said she was deemed to be “too fat” on the occasions she visited Los Angeles.

“It is a strange place and I couldn’t live there.”

It’s quite a mega cosmopolitan city, where dreams come true and Madam Boss is clearly enjoying her annual pilgrimage to LA.

But, in LA, you play according to their rules and the last thing someone trying to break into their circle wants is to be deemed to be “too fat.”

Madam Boss’ appearance had to change or LA was simply going to change her.

Of course, she has been telling us that her weight loss journey was inspired by an unnamed condition which she had.

Recently, she spoke to H-Metro to provide a detailed account of the medical procedures she underwent.

She also was forced to address rumours that she had some of her ribs removed when she underwent surgery.

Madam Boss has in the past been accused of being obsessed with trying to get a body similar to Beyonce’s body.

“I do not regret losing weight after that surgery and I like my new look,” she told H-Metro.

“To put the record straight, none of my ribs were removed as some are saying.

“Do you think it’s real for one to live without ribs, I am yet to know if one can live without any of the ribs.”

The reality, though, is that waist narrowing surgery, often combined with rib removal, is a popular cosmetic procedure for individuals seeking a smaller waistline and enhanced curves.

“By removing or reshaping portions of the lower ribs, patients can achieve a naturally tapered waist that complements their unique body shape,” the WIH International Hospital of Thailand, who carry out these medical procedures, said.

“Waist narrowing, also known as waist contouring surgery or rib removal surgery, involves surgically adjusting the lower ribcage to achieve a slimmer waist.

“By reducing the ribcage width, patients can achieve a narrower midsection, resulting in a defined and proportionate figure.

“For rib removal, the surgeon typically removes the lower ribs (usually the 11th and 12th) to minimise the ribcage width.”

However, this procedure can also be carried out without removing the ribs.

Madam Boss, though, admits that she underwent surgery to deal with her tummy.

“After losing my weight ndakazowona kuti katumbu kangu kakanga kakungorembera.

“I decided to go for liposuction. Liposuction is a type of surgery. It uses suction to remove fat from specific areas of the body, such as the stomach, hips, thighs, buttocks, arms or neck.  Liposuction also shapes these areas.”

She added:

“From there I had to undergo a gastric balloon to remove fat. It is also known as an intragastric balloon and it is a temporary medical device used to assist with weight loss.

“It’s a soft, inflatable balloon placed in the stomach through an endoscope to help reduce the amount of food someone can eat and make them feel full sooner.”

Whatever the case, what is clear is that Madam Boss is having the time of her life and revelling in her new slender look.

Actually, the WIH International Hospital says enhanced confidence is one of the benefits of waist narrowing surgery.

“Many patients report increased self-confidence with a body shape they feel more comfortable with,” the hospital says.
