Madhevere best not good enough

GLADIATORS all-rounder Wessly Madhevere’s National Premier League best score, 117 was not enough to stop Takashinga 1 from pipping them to the coveted crown in a painful fashion at Old Hararians Sports Club on Wednesday.

With everything pointing in the right direction for Gladiators, a defeat in the last match carried with it drastic consequences.

They needed to win at all costs but the experienced Takashinga 1 side emerged three-wicket winners.

This was not what the Zimbabwe all-rounder, Madhevere had envisaged getting into the season decider.

“I believe we are prepared, the defeat definitely will have an effect considering the hard work that’s been put but as a team,” Madhevere said.

“I have a belief that we had done the process right we would have come out on top.

“Being a championship deciding match I expect a clinical win from Gladiators.”

Gladiators were all out for 270 in the 45th over while Takashinga 1 reached 272/7 winning the match by three wickets.
