With everything pointing in the right direction for Gladiators, a defeat in the last match came with drastic consequences.
They needed to win at all cost but the experienced Takashinga 1 side emerged winners by three wickets.
This was not what the Zimbabwe all-rounder, Madhevere, had envisaged getting into the season decider.
And, what his fine century probably deserved.
However, Takashinga 1 have been the most consistent side in the league and many will feel they probably deserved to win the championship.
Gladiators were all out for 270, in the 45th over, while Takashinga 1 reached 272/7, winning the match by three wickets.
