Bulawayo’s creative sector is set for a vibrant celebration as popular artistes Madlela Skhobokhobo, Bhila, and Mzoe 7 join forces to support the debut of the Mr and Miss Khaya Arts pageant, a new modelling competition spearheaded by local dance outfit Khaya Arts.

The inaugural event is scheduled for June 13 at the Khaya Arts Centre in Tshabalala, and it aims to spotlight young talent aged 17 to 25, offering them a platform to break into the modelling and performance industry.

The line-up promises an energetic night of entertainment with performances from Khaya Arts themselves, alongside the star-studded trio and Mlandi Wetshitshi. Event hosting duties will be carried out by the dynamic duo of Vicky and Umahlabayithwale.

Speaking to this publication, Khaya Arts director and founder, Future Dube expressed excitement about the growing momentum around the event.
“We’re excited that it’s coming together bit by bit. A lot of companies are coming on board to support the project, and we’re grateful. It’s shaping up to be a big and memorable first edition,” he said.
The Mr and Miss Khaya Arts pageant marks a bold step for the ensemble, known primarily for dance, as it diversifies into fashion and modelling in a bid to empower youth and broaden its creative impact.
