CHAOS is brewing at Real Madrid and not just on the pitch.
The Los Blancos haven’t won any of their last three matches and for a club that lives permanently on the edge of drama, that’s sparked full-blown panic in the Spanish capital.
Reports in Spain claim the dressing room has split into rival camps.
Some players are said to be turning against under-fire boss Xabi Alonso, while others are rallying behind him. Madrid’s latest slip, a 2-2 draw at struggling Elche was their third straight winless game, following a flat 0-0 at Rayo Vallecano and a 1-0 Champions League defeat to Liverpool.
Madrid made a flying start under their new boss as they won 10 of their first 11 LaLiga games and are still top of the table, a point ahead of Barcelona. But there was talk of some star names not buying into Alonso’s philosophy.
And, with results dipping, whispers of a mutiny have exploded. According to Spanish radio show El Partidazo de COPE, as many as six players are believed to be “unhappy” with Alonso’s management. The reported ‘anti-Xabi’ group includes Fede Valverde, Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Brahim Diaz, Endrick and Ferland Mendy. The situation with Eduardo Camavinga and where he stands is said to be unclear as his minutes have also reduced.
One of the biggest alleged flashpoints is between Alonso and Vinicius Jr, with Spanish outlets claiming the pair have “fallen out badly”.
Alonso, 44, left Vinicius out of his starting line-up for the weekend’s draw with Elche — the fourth time he has been left out this season.
And the Brazil star has only played the full 90 minutes in four games.
Some reports even suggest Vini is refusing to sign a new deal until the situation is resolved, a nightmare scenario for the club’s hierarchy.
But not everyone is said to be sharpening the knives. Cope claim a separate group of five Madrid stars are firmly behind the manager.
The five players are Huijsen, Carreras, Courtois, Arda Guler and Kylian Mbappe who has now become the face of the new Madrid project.
The position of England stars Jude Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold are not known.
With tensions reportedly rising and results flatlining, Madrid’s dressing room is looking more like a battleground than a title-chasing machine at the moment. —Sun.
