AFTER a grueling 90 minutes against Sevilla, Real Madrid secured a 3-1 victory, with Federico Valverde being one of the biggest difference-makers.
The Uruguayan dominated the right wing throughout the game and contributed handsomely to the team’s attacks, earning accolades for his performance.
The game was not all roses for the Uruguayan, however, as he hobbled off limping at full-time after a rough challenge in the final minute. A lot has been speculated about the extent of his injury but no official statement has been released by the club yet.
According to reports from Jose Luis Sanchez, Valverde left Santiago Bernabeu with a bandage around his leg. Tests will be conducted today to ascertain the extent of the injury and project the recovery period.
Speaking after the game, Carlo Ancelotti hinted that the midfielder may not be available for the next game which would be a big blow for the team.
“Valverde has a bruise. It hurts a little, we have to see the tests, I am not sure if he will be ready for the match against Leipzig,” he said.
The 24-year-old was one of Real Madrid’s best players against Sevilla and even got a goal to his name. He found the back of the net in a spectacular long-range attempt from the right side of the goal by firing an unstoppable bullet of a shot.
In addition to his goal, Valverde also recorded a whopping four key passes, five defensive actions, and one long ball on the night. With the goal yesterday, he takes his La Liga tally this season to six goals and one assist while also contributing to two goals in the UEFA Champions League.
Given the form that Valverde has been in, Real Madrid will be hoping that the situation is nothing serious and that the Uruguayan can return to action at the earliest possible. -Madrid Universal.
