IF you wanna take it outside it’s alright!

Two prophets from the Johane Masowe eChishanu in Kwekwe decided to seek a physical rather than spiritual solution to who should date a mutual love interest.

George Zondi (27) and Lovemore Sibanda (27) exchanged blows at their Mbizo 9 shrine during a church service on 21 December last year.

Zondi has since appeared before Kwekwe Magistrate Storey Rushambwa facing an assault charge after he struck his rival with a stone on the head.

Rushambwa slapped Zondi with a $200 fine, failure of which he will spend three months behind bars.

According to State papers, on 21 December 2018 around 1.30pm the two were at the church shrine in Mbizo 9 together with other worshippers.

Zondi, who was preaching, started accusing Sibanda of having an affair with his girlfriend and threatened to beat him up, resulting in Sibanda losing his cool leading to the exchange of blows.

The congregation tried to intervene but failed as the two engaged in a fierce fight.

The woman in question, who was also in the congregation, tried in vain to intervene.

Zondi, however, from nowhere, picked up a stone and struck Sibanda once on the head. Sibanda had suddenly lost concentration on the fight as he tried to explain his position to some congregants.

Blood gushed out of his head and he was rushed to a nearby clinic where he was treated.

Sibanda reported the matter to the police who in turn arrested Zondi.
