Zimbabwean boxer Tinashe Madziwanza is confident of beating his Malawian opponent Robert Kachidza by a knock-out when the two trade leather in an international super bantamweight bout at Stodart Hall in Mbare on Saturday.
Madziwanza was initially set to face Tinashe Mutodza for the bantamweight title, but the latter has since withdrawn from the fight citing lack of preparedness. Now Madziwanza, who is the three-time Zimbabwean bantamweight champion said he has shifted his focus to the bout against Kachidza.
“I am ready for the fight. I have been preparing for it for some time now and I am looking forward to a good fight. Obviously it’s not going to be easy because I am facing a relatively experienced boxer. I will be fighting in Mbare my home so I am eager to win in front of my fans.
”The postponement of the fights were a blessing in disguise as I had more time to prepare. I am also happy that I will be facing someone who I fought back in April and defeated him in the second round through a knock-out,” said Madziwanza.
According to the organisers, Deltaforce Boxing Academy, the tournament will now be held at Stodart Hall with almost all the pugilists on their books taking part.
Deltaforce Boxing Academy has been compelled by the need to see boxing grow and have since embarked on a mission to revive the game by acquiring a prime boxing ring from South Africa.
The academy have since roped in Gypsite Electrical and Civil Contractors who will be helping them to stage monthly tournaments. Collen Mavhundutse’s heavyweight showdown with Simon Madhanhire promises to be a lively six-round battle.
