BONGANI Mafu, the former national team assistant coach who won the Cosafa Cup under Sunday Chidzambwa has described the just-ended CAF A Diploma Course which he attended with legendary Peter Ndlovu in Tanzania last week as eye-opening and refreshing.
Mafu’s last local job was with Ngezi Platinum, three years ago where he served as former Manchester City forward Benjani Mwaruwari’s assistant.
Previously he coached Highlanders, Hwange and Zimbabwe Saints apart from clubs in Botswana. He has previous coaching experience at development level in the United Kingdom where he lives.
“It was refreshing to be back in class in pursuit of a Caf A Diploma. There was so much to learn and refresh. It indeed was a worthwhile experience for me and the guys I had in class,” said Mafu.
He described as a great opportunity to learn about football with someone like Ndlovu whose impact in the game needs no introduction.
“Rubbing shoulders with some of the greatest names in the game like our own Peter Ndlovu was massive,” said Mafu.
