HARARE Mayor Councillor Jacob Mafume says Kunzvi Dam is now impounding water and may be full in two to three years.
Speaking at the 1944th Ordinary council meeting at Townhouse today, Clr Mafume said he hoped that by then the pipeline would be done and the water treatment plant would have been constructed.
“We went with the town clerk to inspect the designs of the treatment plant that is going to be put there by Zinwa, which we are going to operate,” he said.
On roads, Clr Mafume said the Government had finished the construction of an asphalt plant on the outskirts of the city at Skyline.
“It is going to be commissioned by the President in a short while. We are going to get product from that asphalt plant and we have claimed that we want at least 50 percent of the product from that asphalt plant,” he said.
“We have been assisting the Government with our gangs to repair Seke Road, which was now in a state of disrepair.
“The Government will also come to assist us in repairing the inner-city roads So the situation with the inner-city roads is looking up,” he said.
Cllr Mafume said the council is going to engage the Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) chairperson on the issue.
“And once we start getting that tar product, it means we will accelerate our pothole filling and accelerate the construction of new routes using the manufacturing plant that they set up,” he said.Diana Nherera
