THE joint meeting between the Highlanders’ board and executive held yesterday did not deliberate on the fate of Bosso head coach Bongani Mafu as had widely been expected.Board secretary Jimmy Ncube had on Tuesday indicated that Mafu’s issue might be tackled at the meeting since it was a topical subject, but the club’s chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede said it was just a scheduled review and planning meeting.

“The coach was not on the agenda. We only touched on the issue in terms of what people are saying on social media. We considered all the consequences and ramifications of that and nothing else,” said Gumede. However, reliable sources said the technical team was given an ultimatum to win against Chicken Inn on Sunday or be fired en masse.

Bosso face league leaders in a league match at Barbourfields Stadium against the backdrop of back-to-back losses to FC Platinum and Whawha.Chicken Inn were beaten by Hwange and will be looking to bounce back to extend their lead at the top against a highly vulnerable Bosso, who are seriously lacking in confidence following relative poor performances.
