Herentals ended their losing streak in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League with a goalless draw against FC Platinum at Rufaro yesterday.
The Students had lost to Bikita and Yadah prior to this fixture.
They held their own against Norman Mapeza’s unbeaten troops who recorded a 4-0 win last week against ZPC Kariba.
Midfielder, Hagiazo Magaya ran the show in the middle of the park and he was the recipient of the ZTN man of the match award. Mapeza felt that it was two points dropped as he cursed missed opportunities.
“We could have won the match if our strikers were a bit clinical in the first half. It’s two points dropped if you ask me,” said Mapeza.
Oscar Bhebhe was denied by the woodwork in the 20th minute.
Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya failed to make the most of the students’ schoolboy defending as he failed to bust the net with only keeper Joseph Takarinda in sight 10 minutes later.
There was nothing much to talk about after the restart.
Webster Dombo came close to fire the hosts ahead in the 80th minute after lobbing his attempt against the advancing keeper, Wallace Magalane.
Magalane had Mbongeni Ndlovu to thank who made a goal line clearance.
Magalane was forced to make arguably the save of the season so far by John Zhuwawo’s glancing header at the death.
