SIMBA BHORA KEEP RISING

Sports Reporter

CHAMPIONS Simba Bhora went top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League standings after a 1-0 win over Bikita Minerals at Wadzanai Stadium yesterday, dislodging MWOS who host CAPS United at Ngoni Stadium this afternoon.

Ishmael Nyanhi scored the solitary strike that condemned the visitors to their sixth defeat in 16 matches.

With the win, Simba Bhora have 32 points, and which means they can be dislodged by leaders MWOS who are hosting CAPS United today at Ngoni.

The defending champions will now bank on a CAPS United win or a goalless draw to retain pole position going into the halfway stage of the season as newcomers MWOS have 31 points.

The Punters need just a win to reclaim the top spot.

Yesterday’s six matches produced three 1-0 wins and three draws, which yielded little movement on the standings.

At Sakubva Stadium, Highlanders bounced back from a home defeat to Simba Bhora to beat inconsistent Manica Diamonds 1-0 courtesy of a 64th minute strike by Mafious Chihweta.

At Luveve, Mpumelelo Bhebhe grabbed a 49th minute goal to earn Chicken Inn only their second win of the season as they beat former champions, Ngezi Platinum to move up to 12th with 16 points.
