PROPHET Walter Magaya and his business partner have unveiled plans to provide a brand new stadium to Kwekwe by January next year.

The football-mad prophet, who has been tipped to be one of the contenders for the ZIFA presidency, is partnering businessman Shepherd Chahwanda.

Chahwanda owns Hardrock FC in the ZIFA Midlands Division 2B League.

Magaya said the stadium in Kwekwe was a refined version of the Heart Stadium, which he built in Waterfalls, and has been hosting Premiership matches.

Images of Chahwanda Stadium, a 10,000-seater, appeared yesterday.

This facility, which is still under construction, could just be what the doctor ordered for Kwekwe United, who are expected to win the ticket from the ZIFA Central Region to play in the domestic Premiership next season.

It means Kwekwe United, who are under the guidance of former Chicken Inn coach Prince Matore, will play their matches at home instead of travelling to Gweru for an alternative venue.

All CAF requirements have been embedded in its design.

Magaya has also built Heart Stadiums in Malawi and Mozambique.

“Shepherd is strong enough to make this project successful. We expect to complete this venue in January,” said Magaya.

“After this project, my focus will be on the Southern and Eastern regions, they deserve the same. I also urge entrepreneurs and the corporate world to initiate similar projects, enabling domestic players to showcase their talent in better facilities.”

The facility is situated approximately 4km from the Kwekwe Central Business District.

In the ZIFA Southern Region, Victoria Falls is expected to house another Heart Stadium.
