Lovemore Chazingwa in KADOMA
PROPHET Walter Magaya has taken his crusade to renovate football stadiums across the country to Kadoma and toured Rimuka Stadium yesterday in the company of the city council’s leadership.
Magaya, who built his Heart Stadium in Waterfalls from scratch, has already started work, in partnership with a Kwekwe businessman, to build Chahwanda Stadium in the Midlands city.
Now, working in partnership with the Kadoma City Council officials, he wants to renovate Rimuka Stadium.
He toured Rimuka Stadium in the company of Kadoma Mayor Cllr Nigel Ruzario and Town Clerk Malvern Dondo.
Magaya said:
“I want to make a pledge, this one is for the development of this facility to meet world-class standards. We have the concept of a B Arena, as espoused by FIFA regulations, which fits in well with the available infrastructure.
“I want to ensure Kadoma benefits just like the other towns.
“There’s a lot of talent here, judging by products we know, including your very own Cuthbert Malajila.” The former Warriors star was at the stadium during the tour.
Mayor Ruzario said he was elated by the gesture and was looking forward to a win-win partnership with the cleric.
“We’re delighted by this gesture. It will bring sporting development in the city. We’re a sports-loving community and the death of high-level competitions was breaking the hearts of many.
“We last played Premier League hosts at this venue a long time ago and it paints a gloomy picture.
“Back then, this was touted as the third best stadium in the country and we think those good old days are upon us again, thanks to this gesture by Prophet Magaya.”
Malajila said:
“I’m happy for what is coming to our city. We have lots of talent but facilities have been letting us down. We try our best sometimes using personal funds only to reach a certain distance.
“I have an academy, CUMA FC, which is dear to my heart. I strongly think this institution can afford youngsters a chance to shine.”
