Magwaza, Novuyo lead Skyz Metro FM nominees

Nominees for this year’s Skyz Metro FM Music Awards (SKYMas) have been unveiled with Clement Magwaza and Novuyo Seagirl leading the pack with three nominations each.

Maskandi musicians Zinjaziyamluma and Indlamuva, rapper Asaph, Afro Soul musician Thami Khumalo, gospel singers Mai Mwamuka and Knowles Nkiwane each have two.

The second edition of the SKYMAs will be held on December 21 at the Large City Hall in Bulawayo.

Unveiling the nominees at an event held at The Vista on Thursday evening, Skyz Metro FM presenter, Khaya Drastic said over 11 000 people had cast nominations for the various artistes who were entered during the nomination process that closed last week.

The song of the year category will once again be an interesting one with Novuyo’s A.E.I.O.U being pitted against Nceku’s Vele Angikuzwa, Zinjazimyamluma’s Ebunandini, Sandra Ndebele’s Lizwile and Clement Magwaza’s Ayisoyami.

Hip hop artistes Asaph and Cal Vin will clash in two categories, Best Male and Best Hip Hop.

In the best female category, Sandra Ndebele, Mai Mwamuka, Novuyo, Mimi and Luchi Shiki will battle it out.

Skyz Metro FM station manager – Godwin Phiri said they were humbled by the huge number of nomination that they received.

“To us it signifies that our listeners appreciate local content. We remain committed to identifying, profiling, showcasing and celebrating local talent. I’m personally inviting our listeners to come in numbers to celebrate local talent at the awards ceremony in December,” said Phiri.
