A MAGWEGWE woman’s life has endured almost a decade of suffering, which has seen her lose her two brothers under unclear circumstances, her mother suffering an acid attack and she has since gone missing under unclear circumstances.
Friends of Lungile Mdlongwa have since approached the media requesting assistance in locating her.
The Mdlongwa family is no stranger to the press after their two sons, Bekithemba and Zithelo, died under mysterious circumstances in 2012.
The relentless attacks on the Mdlongwa family allegedly began shortly after their father, Maiton Mdlongwa decided to resign from Zanu-PF party.
In June 2013, the violence escalated when Maiton’s wife, Catherine, became the target of a horrific acid attack when unknown assailants targeted her legs, causing severe physical and emotional trauma. The attack left her scarred for life, both physically and mentally.
However, according to Lungile’s friends, she suddenly changed her attitude, and was now distant, as if something was troubling her but would not confide in anyone about what was going on with her.
“She changed suddenly from the Lungile we knew and it was if something was stressing her, she was very distant. At one point I even found her in her room crying. When I tried to console her, asking what was wrong, she refused to open up, insisting that she was okay.
“Now she has gone missing, we do not even know where she is, her mobile phone is not going through, messages are not delivering, we are worried for the safety of our friend,” said Lungile’s friend who declined to be named.
The friend revealed they had since reported Lungile missing to the police.
“The police were honestly not helpful as they just took our statement and said they would investigate the disappearance,” said the friend.
Efforts to get a comment from the fruitless as they claimed they were still checking in their records whether the matter was reported or not.
