GOSPEL musician Tatenda Mahachi has been nominated for Best in Africa gong at this year’s edition of the South Africa Crown Gospel Music Awards.
Mahachi received the nomination for his song, ‘A Friend,’ which featured South Africa’s Dr Winnie Mashaba.
Nominees were released on Friday and Mahachi is up against fellow countryman Michael Mahendere, Linda Dlamini from Eswatini and Botswana’s Boago Fenju.
“The Crown Gospel Music Awards are the biggest in the genre in Africa and it means a lot for me to be nominated for such a prestigious award,” said Mahachi.
He believes the collaboration with Dr Winnie Mashaba worked the magic.
“Many thanks to Dr Winnie Mashaba for agreeing to do the collaboration, she even travelled here for the video shoot.
“Thank you to my producer Wizy from Limitless Production and everyone who partnered with us on this project.”
He added;
“The song is still new but it has already managed to garner such a nomination, something which speaks well about its message and impact.
“I want to appreciate the support I am getting from the local media at large, without you guys nothing could have materialised.”
The song speaks about hope and encouragement to everyone, who is going through life’s difficult seasons.
It urges them to remember that ultimately there is a friend in Jesus who knows all our needs.
The 15th edition of the Crown Gospel Music Awards has been slated for Durban on November,17, 2022.
